Ports MONITORS (POMO) COMMITTEE
The Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) has recently appointed three community members to the new Ports Monitors (POMO) Committee. Committee representatives have been appointed for Gambier Harbour, West Bay (Gambier Island), Halkett Bay (Gambier Island), and Vaucroft (North Thormanby Island).
The first meeting of the Ports Monitors Committee was held on September 19, 2017 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at SCRD Office, Boardroom, 1975 Field Road, Sechelt. The agenda can be viewed here.
The SCRD Board will consider applications in the Fall for additional community members to represent the nine ports and docks the SCRD manages: Gambier Harbour, West Bay, Eastbourne, Keats Landing, Halkett Bay, Port Graves, Vaucroft, Halfmoon Bay and Hopkins Landing.
The purpose of POMO is to assist the SCRD in delivering reliable quality ports facilities by:
- Providing the SCRD with input on operations issues related to ports;
- Providing input to long-term ports planning;
- Acting as on-the-ground eyes and ears to guide the SCRD response to issues as they arise;
- Communicating ports related information to and from community stakeholders.
If volunteering as a POMO member interests you, please complete an application form and submit it to the Administrative Assistant, Planning and Community Development by email.
